Obedience Classes
Obedience training is valuable for every dog and dog owner. It helps owners establish a respectful and rewarding relationship with their dog, and is the basis for addressing many common behavioral issues. For puppies and young dogs it provides critical socialization to other dogs and people. SPDTC offers obedience training, from puppy class to training for all levels of AKC competition levels including Novice, Open and Utility. Obedience classes are held on Tuesday nights, with an additional Beginning class on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am. SPDTC also offers obedience run-throughs at every competitive level on Friday nights at 6:00 pm. Our obedience instructors are highly qualified to teach as most have over twenty years of experience in training and competing with their own dogs, and several are obedience judges.
SPDTC has revamped it's program to include three levels for the pet owner not wishing to show in competition, but still desiring to be "that team" that is admired for their working partnership and control. The three levels are Beginners, Intermediate and Beginning Novice. We did this because we have received many concerns from former students after completing only the first level, feeling confident they could continue on their own, only to find themselves confused and frustrated. We now encourage students to move up through all three levels. To accomplish this we have made the first two levels, Beginners and Intermediate, into ten week blocks, each with an evalutaion/class at the end of the block so the handler and evaluator can identify areas that need more attention. While moving ahead to the next level each instructor brings fresh new ideas in dealing with problem areas as well as adding new fun activities and challenges.
As an incentive a $10 off coupon for the next set of classes is presented to the handlers to encourage students to continue through all three levels and prevent disappointing results. By moving up you'll find yourself arriving at a level you never would have dreamed possible, and have fun doing it while increasing the bond between you and your dog.
Agility Classes St. Paul Dog offers agility classes for all levels.
